And also everybody learns in his/her own pace, so sometimes learning in a group is wasting too much time (and money). Bulgarian is a difficult language (it`s a delusion that Bulgarian is the easiest from all Slavonic languages!), but learning a foreign language can be fun! Can anyone give me some pointers, Im only at the very beginning, Ive bought eurotalk, teach yourself bulgarian, a language guide book and Ive also downloaded stuff from the internet. Here even the Bulgarians have problems to understand "Bansko" language. Im still finding it very very hard.I must admit Im not the brightest of the bunch where languages are concerned if any one can tell me an easy way of teaching myself then I will be very very grateful. It was funny, because, it seems, there are words and phrases, which they heard for the first time, which are special and are used only in their hometowns. It`s much better if you have a qualified tutor of course, but just to guide you and to explain you in an easy manner, because the grammar textbooks are always too complicated. Learning by doing is the best way in my opinion. Otherwise you can try to work on your motivation and spend some time with Bulgarians, e.g. Pat.Back to top ');//--> Doggy Senior memberAug 31, 2006Posts: 242 Posted: Mon Oct 30, 2006 11:07 pm Post subject: Dear Patri, I do not want to discourage you but Bulgarian is not easy at all. Pat.Hi there, the Bg courses at the Uni are indeed the best. People from Varna and the region around the city speak a very strange German and English for example /even if they are fluent in foreign languages/. Razlog, which is located only 5 km from Bansko has its own language too. Regarding DEO, this might be the best place to learn Bulgarian only for the foreign students (I mean university students), since their textbooks and methodics are not suitable for a busy adult. So don't give up right at the start, keep going; if you have some CDs try listening to them when you have time to get used to local talk, apart from taking a course. That is usually the quickest way of learning, and Bulgarian is the EASIEST Slavic language of all! The best way to improve and progress in learning high style Bulgarian language is to be trained by lecturers from the above mentioned Department of the Sofia University. The words are completly different, like - potatoes in Bulgarian is "kartofi" and in Banskonian "combari". They can't hide their dialectal interference of the mother tongue with foreign languages even life-long. They really speak a very strange dialect there. Some Bulgarian friends shared it is much more easy to understand what Macedonians (people from the former Yougoslav Republic)say then what two Bansko people are talkimg about. It's almost the same at the seaside region.
