According to the chairwoman of “Eyes on four paws” foundation Ms. After the successful ending of the training course the trained guides of blind people will be officially given to their new owners to sit up and help them for the symbolic fee of BGN 1. Albena Aleksieva the cradle and training of a guide-dog is the same as with children. At the moment the dogs are being socialized in adoptive families. Donations for these four projects are collected by SMS sent by M-Tel subscribers to 1788 short number at a fee of BGN 0.60 (VAT included) each. During the years supported by M-Tel the Foundation “Eyes on Four Paws” has trained an instructor for guide dogs in Moscow; has made up a network of adoptive families in which the dogs live and socialize (2003 – until now); has opened a rehabilitation centre for blind people. He also participated in naming the young guide-dogs. He said that he hails that kind of activities and investments which guarantee the opportunity of blind people to feel more free and equal in the society. Its main mission is rehabilitation and reintegration of blind people, supported by guide-dogs. She said that it grows, develops, acquires potential, but time always comes when it has to leave its family and fulfill its duties. Special guest at the event was the Mayor of Sofia Mr. The main goal is to educate blind people working and living with guide-dogs, as well as training and granting guide-dogs to blind people in Bulgaria. The Mayor made a wish in future Bulgaria to welcome the Day of Europe with similar initiatives – corresponding to the European spirit and values. The musicians from “Tri-O-Five” band who also participated in the event and performed their song “1788” took an interest in adopting a dog. The price of a guide-dog purchased from abroad is EUR 25 000. They received medallions with their new names and diplomas from Josef Vinatzer, M-Tel CEO. They will start their training at the end of the year 2008. Up to this moment “Eyes on four paws” foundation has trained and given to blind people 6 guide dogs.
