Bansko by what I've heard has been pretty difficult farming. Bansko has a great future and I think we should all be proud that we're involved in some way. But one thing that does annoy me is the pessimism. By the sounds of things that might confuse some people. Certainly it will appear that far too much has been built too soon. Create a forum and see how a loyal community of users will propel your site/product/business to a new level. I am interested as always in hearing opinions who are better qualified to put me right. I am no fan of Bansko and have made no bones about the fact to the point where I have been vilified. I don't think liking Bulgaria and the Uk are incompatible. I have learnt a lot from this forum, and I hope I continue to. I mean rural Bansko sold is soul when the Gondola was developed. I say "resort" as it isn't a farm that people are really interested in is it? I was just reporting what another guide was saying which puts Bankso in the context of other World resorts. I'm also well versed enough in village mentality enough to know: just because your friends agree doesn't make it right. It is not exactly the most fertile ground. My reckoning is (it is plain to see) that it was welcomed with open arms. The 'Cheermongers' and 'spin merchants' rule this site and will do their very best to bully and ridicule anyone with a differing viewpoint off of the forum.A brief brouse through recent posts will give one an overview as to the depth of the problems out there. The legality of developments close to the park is interesting too: A report by the World Wildlife Fund claims that two-thirds of the construction is 'essentially illegal' as the building work has been carried out on land that is part of the sacrosanct Pirin National Park. Then the WWF does have an agenda, which might also have a bearing on the expansion of the ski area in coming years. There is little argument that skiing is the major factor in the money that has come into the resort. This might upset some locals, but Bansko has already (for better or for worse) been transformed by skiing.
