CITIENS TO ENTER BULGARIA TOURIST TRAVEL U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER BULGARIA Following are visa requirements for U.S. Alien Residents requiring entry visas, and also for US citizens staying over 30 days in Bulgaria. Official and Diplomatic passport holders. Processing Instructions Please forward the completed requirements detailed above to: TRAVEL DOCUMENT SYSTEMS, INC., 925 Fifteenth Street N.W. The Bulgarian Embassy requires prior approval from Sofia for the issue of Multi Entry visas. Visa processing time is subject to the discretion of the Embassy. Visas are valid for three months from date of issue and may be extended before the date of expiration. Citizens of the USA and the European Union (holders of regular passports) are not required Bulgarian visas for a stay of up to 30 days. However, a border tax of approximately US $20 is payable on entry. If planning to stay more than 30 days, or traveling on diplomatic or official passport, a visa is required and must be obtained in advance. For motorists a national drivers license is required. Motor vehicle insurance can be arranged at the Bulgarian border point of entry for nominal fee.
