INTERNATIONAL REDS: A COMPLETE GUIDE>"> newsgad();NEWS STORYINTERNATIONAL REDS: A COMPLETE GUIDEPaul Eaton11 October 2008Liverpool's galaxy of international stars are currently all over the globe preparing for crucial World Cup 2010 qualifying matches over the next week. Here's a complete guide to where our boys are today. Steven Gerrard (England) With maximum points from their opening two Group 6 qualifiers, England are overwhelming favourites to make it nine points from nine with victory over Kazakhstan at Wembley today (5.15pm). Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, Albert Riera, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa (Spain) Liverpool have five of their squad representing the European Champions over the next week, with Albert Riera a late call-up to Vicente Del Bosque's party. Sitting top of Group 5 after two matches played, Spain will surely end the day where they began with victory in Estonia against a side who are yet to collect a point before they travel to take on Belgium in Brussels on Wednesday. Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel (Holland) Iceland provide the opposition for Group 9 leaders Holland in Rotterdam this evening when Dirk and Ryan will be hoping to help secure victory in their country's second match in qualifying action. A trip to Norway then follows for the Dutch next week. Robbie Keane (Republic of Ireland) There's no game for the Irish today - but they'll spend their time in Dublin preparing for Wednesday night's qualifier against Cyprus. Ireland have made a solid start to the campaign under new coach Giovanni Trapattoni and currently sit in second place with four points from their opening two matches. Daniel Agger (Denmark) Denmark have just the one game during this international break as well - though it appears to be a very winnable one against Malta in Copenhagen. The Danes are currently third in Group 1 while Malta are holding up the rest of the group with no points and seven goals conceded from their first two matches. Lucas (Brazil) Brazil currently lie in second place in the South American qualifying group and will be looking to put pressure on leaders Paraguay over the next week. Lucas' country take on Venezuela in San Cristobal on Sunday night before entertaining Colombia in Rio De Janeiro next Wednesday. Javier Mascherano (Argentina) Argentina are currently level on points with Brazil after eight round of matches and take on Uruguay in Buenos Aires this evening before a trip to face Chile - another team tied for second place on 13 points - next week. Andrea Dossena (Italy) Andrea Dossena is in Sofia with his Italian teammates preparing for tonight's Group 8 qualifier against Bulgaria. Italy, unsurprisingly, sit top of the pile after two games and follow up tonight's clash with a home encounter against Montenegro in Lecce next week. Sami Hyypia (Finland) It's a double header for Sami Hyypia and his Finland teammates this week as well, with Azerbaijan providing the opposition in Helsinki tonight before a testing trip to Moscow to take on Russia follows on Wednesday night. Finland lie bottom of Group 4 at the moment, but have played just the one game so far. Yossi Benayoun (Israel) It's a home clash for Israel tonight as they entertain Moldova looking to improve on their current second place in Group 2. Victory should be a formality with Moldova bottom of the group and without any points so far, but a sterner test will lie in wait for the Israelis next week when they travel to take on third placed Latvia in Riga. Nabil El Zhar (Morocco) Morocco currently lie second in their three team group which also features Rwanda and Mauritius. El Zhar will be looking to help his country to three more crucial qualifying points when they take on bottom of the table Mauritius tonight.

Thorn Tree Travel Forum ... - Bradt Travel Guide To Montenegro ...

Bradt travel guide to Montenegro ... - Thorn Tree Travel Forum ... The funny thing is, their guide to Bulgaria doesn't see any problem in travelling through Serbia. Posted 02-Mar-2004 18:51 by: Eli. Posts: 3791 ... Posted 18-Feb-2004 10:07 by: alan1972 Posts: 1,469 Registered: 05/07/03 1 I got this guide recently to help in planning a trip in April. My impressions so far:- Not very well organised, it simply describes every locality one after the other with no attempt to give an overview. I prefer the LP and RG approach where each region has an introduction mentioning the highlights before delving into the details.- It is written very much from the point of view of someone doing a driving tour of the country. A particular town might be accessible by 2 buses per hour, one bus per day, or no buses at all, but the book won't give you any clue which. Obviously this won't be a problem if you intend travelling by car.- Very little info about hiking, in the Durmitor section it says something like "this is beyond the scope of this book". This might be OK for a country with a choice of specialised walking guides available in English. Posted 19-Feb-2004 01:28 by: Gunnjona Posts: 27 Registered: 11/04/02 3 Agree very much with #1. The main problem with this book is the the lack of practical information on how to get around. Also I didn't think the accomodation bits were very good. But then again, I was travelling buy car and living with friends, so it's hard to judge. Apart from this I found it well enough written and the info given on each town was good. It's worth getting in my opinion, but mainly because there is no alternative and if you, like me, like to read a guidebook before you leave you should certainly get it. If you mainly want a book to give you practical information along the way, maybe not. Posted 19-Feb-2004 04:32 by: alan1972 Posts: 1,469 Registered: 05/07/03 4 I've just been browsing Let's Go Eastern Europe, which has a small section on Serbia and Montenegro. I noticed that they advise travelling by train from Budva to Cetinje and also from Budva to one of the coastal resorts. Sounds like a spectacular rail line, unfortunately I'm pretty sure it exists only in the imagination of the Let's Go contributor. Generally I like the Rough Guides, but their failure to include a large chunk of the Balkans in the Europe guide is starting to look rather pathetic. They are still including the line "of the war-torn and strife-riven republics that have been carved out of the former Yugoslavia, only Slovenia and Croatia have been included as easily accessible and currently safe to visit" in their November 2003 guide. Sounds like they haven't updated that since the early 1990s. I know this doesn't help much, I guess I'm just balancing my earlier criticism by contrasting Bradt with the even worse approach of other publishers. Surely there must be now be a market for a guide like that? Posted 20-Feb-2004 18:39 by: egokan Posts: 4 Registered: 16/05/03 6 I just received the new Bradt guide to Montenegro and started reading it. One thing for sure, there is no other publication out there with more information. I got the new Bradt guide to Albania, and iI will say the same thing. Besides, they figure pretty small in the overall budget of a trip to Balkans - at least for me, coming from the US. Posted 24-Feb-2004 05:10 by: 60944 Posts: 27 Registered: 08/04/02 7 Yes there is! Unfortunately they sent me a guide to Camping in Kenya instead. Balkanology :: Explore Southeast EuropeTravel Photos Posted 27-Feb-2004 05:03 by: Macedonian Posts: 216 Registered: 05/10/03 9 I will like to see Bradt gude to macedonia, as the Montenegro one stinks. LP's Eastern Europe has more practical things about MKD and SCG then whole Bradt book on Montenegro. I think is about time that LP isued guids on Macedonia , Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia. The few pages of Lonely Planet were more useful. That said, it isn't the most difficult country to get around. Posted 02-Mar-2004 18:51 by: Eli Posts: 3,796 Registered: 12/04/00 13 Huh?
