In the presence of the Bulgarian Minister of Culture Stefan Danailov and Minister-President of the Walloon Community Rudy Demotte, Mini-Europe revealed the Rila Monastery from Bulgaria. In the tenth century, he left his life at the monastery in Rouen to move to the barren Rila Mountains, and settled in the vicinity of the spectacular deep valleys of the Rilski River. It can be seen as the religious centre of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, and an expression of Bulgarian cultural identity. Since 1961, the Rila Monastery has been a national museum and in 1983, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Like all the other monuments at Mini-Europe, the monastery is built to a scale of 1/25th. About 16 years ago, when we crossed the border from Bulgaria into Greece, we were on a bus and it took a long time, as there were 2 "crossings", the Bulgarian and the Greek. But maybe that is not the rule, but more of an exception.As far as I know, there are no ID checks at arrival in any of the neignbouring countries. Hence, when crossing borders, remember to have your passport with you. However, now that they are both EU members it will be a breeze. However, this will rarely result in requests for bribes or similar harassment. I guess that again passports are piled and taken to the counters, it is quite unlikely that people have to disembark. In any case you will always be asked for ID when travelling from a non-Schengen country to a Schengen country or the other way around. In fact, I'm watching one called Incognito where an art thief on the run is dodging cops who are boarding the train he's riding on.It isn't a totally idle question. Normally you are not being asked for ID when travelling from one Schengen country to another. Of course, random police checks might occur, but chances are slight.As an American, you might be signled out if you are the only non-local traveler. Or when you get off at your destination. Post a Bulgaria travel question and get unbiased, timely answers and insights from real travelers and Bulgaria locals. In the first heat, defending World Champion, Andre Budzien (GER) continued to lead the scoreline, but tainted his copybook with a third place finish behind Thierry van Vierssen (NED) and Han Bergma (NED). In the second heat, Ilias Hatzipaulis (GRE) won in front of Gerko Visser (NED) and Eric Bakker (NED). Many have been training here for months in preparation for this regatta. On Thursday, the wind started at around 15 knots but soon dropped to about 10 knots once the starts got underway, and at times during the races dropped to 4-5 knots. The Dutch home fleet are having a great regatta with no less than 9 boats inside the top 20. The final race will be sailed tomorrow at 11.30, and although the winner is assured, everyone else in the top 10 is already discarding a high score, so the other medal places are wide open. The other heat was won by Mihail Kopanov (BUL) in a race plagued by large wind shifts and patchy holes across the course. Wednesday's race brought lighter winds with a few upsets, however after five races the discard had an equally large effect, bringing to the top many sailors who had picked up a high score in the first few races. Wide pressure differential across the course also caused a few upsets, but Budzien assured himself of his second consecutive title by placing second in his heat behind Hatzipaulis who won his second race in a row.

On Thursday, the wind started at around 15 knots but soon dropped to about 10 knots once the starts got underway, and at times during the races dropped to 4-5 knots. The Dutch home fleet are having a great regatta with no less than 9 boats inside the top 20. The final race will be sailed tomorrow at 11.30, and although the winner is assured, everyone else in the top 10 is already discarding a high score, so the other medal places are wide open. The other heat was won by Mihail Kopanov (BUL) in a race plagued by large wind shifts and patchy holes across the course. Wednesday's race brought lighter winds with a few upsets, however after five races the discard had an equally large effect, bringing to the top many sailors who had picked up a high score in the first few races. Wide pressure differential across the course also caused a few upsets, but Budzien assured himself of his second consecutive title by placing second in his heat behind Hatzipaulis who won his second race in a row.

The mountainous southwest of the country has two alpine ranges — Rila and Pirin — and further east stand the lower but more extensive Rhodope Mountains. The Rila range includes the highest peak of the Balkan Peninsula, Musala, at 2,925 meters (9,596 ft); the long range of the Balkan mountains runs west-east through the middle of the country, north of the famous Rose Valley. This happened under the rule (852–889) of Boris I.

Europe's Best Sommelier '2008 Competition in Sofia the Capital of Bulgaria. Golden phiale sreplicating an item from the Panagyurishte treasures of Ancient Thrace is a symbol of the contest. It will be established as a symbol of Association de la Sommellerie Internationale � ASI and will popularize Bulgaria around the World. Professor Bajidar Dimitrov held a lecture about the history of the wine in Bulgaria during the centuries. Representatives of Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, France, Norway, Finland, Portuguese, Turkey and Sweden went on the competition. The contest was arranged like a spectacular show. The event went on under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov. The ministry of culture gave a permission to use the replica of the phiale as a trophy of the competition. The results of the first part of the competition were announced on а press conference. There was a special bottle of wine for the winner. They tried two sorts of wines and three types of spirits. The event went on under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov. The ministry of culture gave a permission to use the replica of the phiale as a trophy of the competition. The results of the first part of the competition were announced on а press conference. There was a special bottle of wine for the winner. They tried two sorts of wines and three types of spirits. They were served by the finalists, who had to recognize the sorts of the wines and to prove their qualities. Three actors were, played the role of special clients.
