Frommer’s travel guidebook series began in 1957 with the publication of Arthur Frommer’s book, Europe on $5 a Day. In the Valley of Kings, in tombs adorned with frescoes and bass reliefs, archaeologists continue to discover mankind’s most ancient gold treasures — the beautifully worked objects buried with Bulgaria’s Thracian forebears, some dating as far back as 3000 B.C. It was the first travel guide to show Americans that they can afford to travel in Europe. The book ranked popular landmarks and sights in order of importance and included suggestions on how to travel around Europe on a budget.

Bansko by what I've heard has been pretty difficult farming. Bansko has a great future and I think we should all be proud that we're involved in some way. But one thing that does annoy me is the pessimism. By the sounds of things that might confuse some people. Certainly it will appear that far too much has been built too soon. Create a forum and see how a loyal community of users will propel your site/product/business to a new level. I am interested as always in hearing opinions who are better qualified to put me right. I am no fan of Bansko and have made no bones about the fact to the point where I have been vilified. I don't think liking Bulgaria and the Uk are incompatible. I have learnt a lot from this forum, and I hope I continue to. I mean rural Bansko sold is soul when the Gondola was developed. I say "resort" as it isn't a farm that people are really interested in is it? I was just reporting what another guide was saying which puts Bankso in the context of other World resorts. I'm also well versed enough in village mentality enough to know: just because your friends agree doesn't make it right. It is not exactly the most fertile ground. My reckoning is (it is plain to see) that it was welcomed with open arms. The 'Cheermongers' and 'spin merchants' rule this site and will do their very best to bully and ridicule anyone with a differing viewpoint off of the forum.A brief brouse through recent posts will give one an overview as to the depth of the problems out there. The legality of developments close to the park is interesting too: A report by the World Wildlife Fund claims that two-thirds of the construction is 'essentially illegal' as the building work has been carried out on land that is part of the sacrosanct Pirin National Park. Then the WWF does have an agenda, which might also have a bearing on the expansion of the ski area in coming years. There is little argument that skiing is the major factor in the money that has come into the resort. This might upset some locals, but Bansko has already (for better or for worse) been transformed by skiing.

Thats an insult to the EU, which specialises in the gross manipulation of words. The EU has never had to worry about insulting Turkey or Turkishness or the Turkish nation so they dont really care who goes to jail or gets killed there as long as trade continues. The new Article 301 is the same old Article 301. The European Union has weakly requested that Turkey scrap Article 301 as one requirement to become a member of the European Union, where it is okay to insult all nationalities, allowed in real democracies. Theyve also reduced the penalty for insulting Turkey - which is indistinct from Turkishness - from three years in jail to two, which, if youve seen Midnight Express, means youll still come out squealing like a pig. Those dissidents go to jail, or, like Dink, into the ground, no matter what they name the law. This so-called reform is a joke, said Hilda Tchoboian, chairwoman of the European Armenian Federation. Anyone been to Vietnam who can recommend better/other beers, or improve this list?-- Vivek WagleJoin the Discussion: 1 Comments: Anonymous said... Apart from bia hoi (fresh draught beer), which you can get on almost any street corner for a few cents, there are several national breweries that produce a fine drop. Bia 333 - Pronounced 'ba ba ba' (don't ask me about tones!), 333 might not be quite as poor as Festival, but the weight of expectation sends it to the bottom of the list. Bia Festival - Easily the worst of the three big Hué beers, Festival is overpriced and slightly sour. Bia Ha Noi - North beats South in the battle of Vietnam's 'two capitals'. Bia Hue - Very similar to Huda, and brewed by the same company, this is a pale lager that sucks up your thirst magnificently. Bia Sai Gon - Ho Chi Minh City's answer to Bia Ha Noi, Bia Sai Gon is darker, more honeyed and less carbonated. Cheaper than chips and almost as uncarbonated, Halida can leave a full feeling in your stomach and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Halida - Produced in North Vietnam under the supervision of Carlsberg, Halida is an OK drop. Hanoi's brew is golden, fizzy and eminently drinkable. Here's my take, in order of preference:1. Huda - Native to Hue, the old imperial capital, Huda is cheap, clean, thoroughly refreshing, and complex enough to sip slowly (if you have the self-control). If you want full flavour, go for Sai Gon; if you want a great balance, go for Huda.Again, these are just the opinions of a complete dilettante. It lacks the richness of its Hué counterparts, but it has no bitter aftertaste and sports a pleasant, malty flavour.4. It's a fine accompaniment to spring rolls or bun, though.6. It's better for a cool, breezy evening than after a hot day spent dodging scooters.5. It's supposedly an 'export-quality' beer, but it's horribly disappointing. Any closer and theyd pass the European Commission job test. Bulgaria, Montenegro sign a consular agreement 2. EBVR offers over 1 billion Euro by 2012 5. Excise taxes will be frozen for two years3. Foreign portfolio investors are coming back4. However, although an analysis of the new wording indicates some progress in this respect, it does not alleviate all concerns about excessive restrictions of the freedom of expression, he said. I want the article annulled, Keskin said. Keskin was found guilty of insulting the armed forces for suggesting the Turkish military has too much influence, so her opinion counts.I do not want changes. Kremikovtsis fate to be decided in court 6. Plovdiv and Stara Zagora tobacco factories shares go 7. So far, there are no entries in the safe category, but the EU should not belong to any club that will have Turkey as a member. Thats an insult to the EU, which specialises in the gross manipulation of words. The Balkans believe in their European futureEditorialThe difficult part is still to come With the appointing of five new ministers, Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev embarked upon the long postponed renovation of the government. There are also considered structural changes, and in the first half of May the... To be safe, the EU has put out a guide on what you can say and cant say about the Turkish nation. Where is Orhan Pamuk, the Nobel Laureate who was prosecuted for violating Article 301, to write that this runningin- place change is a sham? With Dinks murder safely behind them, and knowing the economic benefits of being in the EU are looming, Turkey has amended its law so that its no longer a crime to insult Turkishness.

I thought he was an American actor.” This was my first reaction. It really makes it difficult to differentiate the historical characters and the actors who played the roles. It will be nice to have the company of another lady on the long drive.Accordingly, I was waiting in our hotel lobby when the guide phoned the counter and told that they will be a bit late because they were held up in the traffic. The tour-desk-manager of Sheraton said.I was more than willing. The TWO ruins, which have been partly excavated, are the Antique Theater and the Roman Stadium. The wooden houses look exotic but decidedly lack in decent plumbing, euphemistically called the ‘modern amenities’.
